Tuesday 14th July....St Ignace, MI to Manistique, MI.....

It's a short post this time to let you all know that all is well and the lack of blog posts was a couple of weeks of very erratic or non existent wifi but we were in the boon docks although beautiful areas and not complaining and we have enjoyed reading (no TV either) and listening to our some of our 5000 songs stored on the i-pod....
It was a short drive on the 14th from St Ignace to Manistique just 101 miles on US 2 west and mainly along the edge of Lake Michigan, a good 2 lane highway with passing lanes every 10 miles or so....the passing is other road users passing us although we do keep up a steady 55 MPH....
A goodly amount of scenic turnouts and rest areas...this one for coffee and cookies at Little Hog and the most northerly point of Lake Michigan....
Opps the dark clouds are gathering and from here in very heavy showers then sunny spells and luckily a break in the rain when we arrive at Jack Pine Lodge and Campground in The Hiawatha National Forest....here for 3 days to visit Pictured Rocks National Shoreline...
Not a song but a poem today...The Song of Hiawatha...Henry Longworth Longfellow....
However must catch up with emails and all things internet so for now it's goodnight from
The Connected Campers....

  1. Hi Both, I do admire your ability to hunt out the places that are a bit off the usual trail, but I guess that's an advantage of spending the time you do there, on a normal two week visit you can only hit the "top ten" places. Benefit for us "onlookers" is we see photos of places we'll never see. Keep pointing that camera!
All well here, no gossip to report, we hear Clive is in Scotland fishing - I wonder if there is any chance of an Arbroath smokie?? Take care.

  2. We are very lucky to be able to spend the extra time and see more, long may it continue...last we saw on FB was that Eileen had lost a big one (salmon that is not Clive !!) on way from rod to net and Clive hadn't caught anything but that was a week ago...
Hope your summer continues and you get some good golf and both have time for a few sundowners...
