On The Road Again: Further Adventures With Yorkieman and Mrs Blogger...17th to 29th June 2016....

Hello Blog Watchers....
Yorkieman and I are back on the road again and looking forward to living in our home on wheels and seeing more of the very diverse USA....
We landed in Atlanta Georgia on 16th June...cue first songs of this singing road trip...Georgia On My Mind, Midnight Train To Georgia, Rainy Night In Georgia to name 3...we landed to temperatures of 90 degrees a far cry from February when it was snow flurries !!!
We had a fabulous few days of fun, food and fellowship in Cornelia and at Lake Burton with our dear Georgia friends.....the truck was fitted with new tyres before we collected our rig from storage and headed north....
First stop is at Crooked Creek RV Park at Lake Keowee, South Carolina....
We have stayed here several times over the years and it's one of our favourite campsites, not only a very good campsite but also close to shops for stocking up fridge/freezer and store cupboards....
This and next pic...Lake Keowee......

Camp Harris at Crooked Creek....
Saturday...25th June...
After fond farewells to the campsite owners who we have known now for over 6 years we head for the Cherokee Scenic Highway Route 11 north....
We have driven parts of this scenic route before....
And onto the I-26 to Asheville and North Carolina...
I've included this photo only for sentimental purposes, we had such a wonderful time driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway in our hired camper van back in 2010....The Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia (ok we're not but) On The Trail Of The Lonesome Pine....
The I-40 west through the Blue Ridge Mountains and a very pretty drive...
This section of the I-40 had a big landslide/rockfall last year....
This and next photo going into a tunnel on the I-40 through the mountains, I bet it's not closed as often as our Hindhead Tunnel !!!!!!
Bradda Ed is pleased to be On The Road Again.......
And into Tennessee.....
Our last rest stop for today...next stop our campsite for the night at Heiskell near Knoxville and a quick change from our booking of 30 amp to 50 amp as the temperatures are topping out at
98 degrees we will need both a/c units working full-time which no can do with 30 amp !!!
26th June....Tennessee to Ohio...
Today's route is mainly I-75 through Kentucky.....pretty drive through the mountains and then pasture and horse country.....road works and heavy traffic but a straightforward drive....
This looked square and like an elongated Tardis from the distance but ha ha it's a water-tower...
Sorry folks couldn't resist putting in this colourful one......
And this one...it is not just about the water-tower but the dark clouds behind it !!!!......as we came off of the I-75 onto the I-275 we hit a 5 minute cloud burst...the temps went down 20 degrees, torrential rain and then back to 96 degrees and sun.....
Our campsite's address is Ohio but we first enter Indiana...cue song Indiana Wants Me....
And into Ohio, our campsite is on the State Line at North Bend, Ohio just a few miles from the city of Cincinnati....
"Cincinnati where the river winds
Cross the Mason and the Dixie Line
Heaven waits for me I know
In Cincinnati, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio"
Indian Springs Campground and lake....it's a really nice campsite and lovely owners The Hickey family and their beautiful grey and white rescue cat called of course Miss Kitty...you have to be a certain age to appreciate the name perhaps...

Camp Harris at Indian Springs Campground....
Tuesday 28th June...
We are standing on the Ohio side of the Ohio River looking across to Kentucky.... back in the early 1900's the river was damed and a set of locks put in to improve navigation and commerce...the locks are no longer there but the river is still an important route for the many industries on the Ohio side....the Kentucky side is mainly agriculture and forest....
We discover from talking to a local that the brown sludgy colour is due to excessive rains farther up river and that it usually runs very clear....
I'm in heaven, Yorkieman not so much as we wait 10 minutes for the train and railcars to pass !!!!
Empty automobile carriages...
One of the many lovely old buildings on the River Road (50 east towards Cincinnati).....
The River Side memorial area in Lawrenceburg (nearest large town to where we are staying) historic area....there is a large Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg....

Plaque at the River Side Memorial, Lawrenceburg...
This is one of the towns where the railroad really does run right through the centre of town....
Tomorrow we move on once again up to the top of Indiana to Elkhart for a 2 night stay.....Elkhart is supposed to be the RV capital of the world !! Forest River have a factory there so hoping we can get a couple of our minor repairs done...
Until the next time.....
The Very Warm Campers....
